Kansas Assoc. of Broadcasters Honors Stations

The Kansas Association of Broadcasters has announced winners in its annual awards for broadcasting excellence.  A television and radio station in each of three competition groups will receive “Station of the Year” awards during KAB’s Awards Banquet on Oct. 10, in Wichita.

Stations of the Year recipients are:

  • Non-metro television – KOOD-TV Bunker Hill 
  • Medium market television WIBW-TV Topeka
  • Large market television – KWCH-TV Wichita
  • Major market television – KCTV-TV Kansas City
  • Small market radio – KCLY-FM Clay Center  
  • Medium market radio – KANU-FM Lawrence  
  • Large market radio – KMUW-FM Wichita

The “Station of the Year” designation is based on points accumulated for winning a first, second, or honorable mention in a category. Categories in the competition include commercial production, public service and station promotion announcements; public affairs programming; news and sportscasts; news features; in-depth reporting; play-by-play; DJ personality; editorial/commentary; and website.

Members of the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association judged the 751 entries on content, performance, and technical production.
