Karen Koutsky Named Fox’s Charlotte ND

The former news director of WGHP High Point, N.C., will head news operations at Fox Television Stations’ WJZY-WMYT duopoly.

Karen Koutsky today was named VP-news director of Fox Television Stations’ WJZY (Fox)-WMYT (MNT) duopoly in Charlotte, N.C. (DMA 24). She replaced Geoff Roth moved to Fox’s KRIV Houston as managing editor of news

Effective Jan. 5, 2015, Koutsky will oversee all editorial, business, and administrative functions for WJZY/WMYT, reporting directly to Karen Adams, the station’s VP-GM.

Most recently, Koutsky was the VP-news director at Tribune-owned WGHP High Point, N.C. Before that, she spent two years as the assistant news director at WTHR Indianapolis.

Prior to that, Koutsky spent a year as the assistant news director at WTVG Toledo, Ohio. Earlier in Koutsky’s career, she worked as a planning manager at WAGA Atlanta. She had previously been the assignment editor at WXIA Atlanta.

A graduate of The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Koutsky has a Bachelor of Arts in journalism.
