Kate Morris Named GM Of Tegna Idaho Duo

She is promoted from executive news director to succeed Doug Armstrong who is retiring as president and general manager of its KTVB Boise and KTFT Twin Falls.

Tegna today promoted Kate Morris to president and general manager of its NBC affiliates KTVB Boise, Idaho (DMA 104) and KTFT Twin Falls, Idaho (DMA 190). Morris will replace Doug Armstrong, who plans to retire March 9, after two decades at the stations.

Morris is an award-winning broadcast veteran with nearly two decades of newsroom experience and an Idaho native. For the past seven years, she has served as KTVB’s executive news director.

In this role, Morris grew audiences, expanded the local news product across platforms and helped increase station profit margins, Tegna said. Under her leadership, KTVB has expanded its digital presence across platforms leading to increases in page views, unique visitors and time spent on the station’s website. KTVB’s Facebook page has also grown into the state’s most popular in any category.

Morris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in broadcast journalism from Arizona State University. She also graduated from the 2016-17 Tegna Executive Leadership program.
