KBFX Launches This TV Bakersfield

Fisher Communications is now airing This TV Bakersfield on the digital tier of its Fox affiliate KBFX-CD Bakersfield, Calif. (DMA 125). THIS TV Bakersfield is a programming service offering a variety of hit movies from the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios library, as well as classic television series. This can be found over-the-air on ch. 29.2 or on Digital Brighthouse ch. 40.

This TV is part of a company-wide initiative by Fisher Communications to expand its programming options. The company has already launched This TV on KATU Portland, Ore.; KOMO Seattle, and on KVAL-KCBY-KPIC Eugene, Ore.

“The digital television transition launched last year is enabling us to provide additional programming free over the air to viewers in Kern County and beyond,” says VP-GM Teresa Burgess. “As we expand our secondary channels and initiate new offerings such as mobile television, we are fulfilling the promise the digital spectrum offers for broadcasters to better serve the public.”

This TV is a collective effort between MGM and Chicago-based Weigel Broadcasting Co., and draws from more than 4,100 films and 10,000 hours of television programming in the MGM library.
