KCRA Expands 10 P.M. Newscast On KQCA

Beginning today, KCRA 3 News at 10 p.m. on co-owned KQCA (MNT) Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), will expand to a full hour every night. In addition to the expansion, Hearst-owned KCRA announced several new journalists to its team.

Rob Malcolm will co-anchor the expanded 10 p.m. newscast with Kellie DeMarco.  Malcolm will also contribute with reports for the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts on KCRA.

He comes to KCRA from CTV in Toronto, Canada, where he was an anchor and reporter. Previous to CTV, he spent three years as an anchor/reporter at Global Television in Toronto. His career also includes experience as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WNYW New York and as a weekend sports anchor at WDIV Detroit. 

Kathy Park recently joined KCRA 3 News as a weekend anchor.  She comes from NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C., where she worked as a weekend morning anchor and reporter since 2008. She will also report for KCRA 3 News at 10 p.m. on KQCA and KCRA 3 News at 11 p.m. during the week.

Brian Heap joins Kathy Park on the weekend anchor desk. Heap joins from KWCH Wichita, Kan., where he’s been a morning anchor and investigative reporter for six years. Prior to working in Wichita, he was a reporter at WPTY Memphis; KVIA El Paso, Texas, and KTVZ Bend, Ore.  He will also report for KCRA 3 News at 10 p.m. on KQCA and KCRA 3 News at 11 p.m. during the week.

Michelle Dapper also joins KCRA as a sports reporter/anchor. Dapper comes to the station from KHQ-SWX in Spokane, Wash. Before KHQ, Dapper was the sports director at KEZI Eugene, Ore.

Also joining KCRA  news is Linda Mumma, who will be reporting from the Modesto Bureau. Mumma from KFSN Fresno, Calif.
