KCRA To Expand Weekday Morning Newscasts

Hearst-owned NBC affiliate KCRA Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), will offer more morning news on weekdays.

On Monday, April 23, KCRA 3 Morning News will begin at 4 a.m., providing an extra 30 minutes of local news, weather and traffic coverage.

“We are very excited to expand our weekday morning news coverage,” said KCRA-KQCA President-GM Elliott Troshinsky. “We understand that our viewers are starting their days earlier and earlier. As our viewer’s lifestyles change, we want to be there for them, providing important local news and information on all platforms when they want it.”

“We know there are a sizeable number of morning viewers who are up very early,” said KCRA News Director Lori Waldon. “They want a strong, smart newscast with up-to-the-minute weather and traffic information. KCRA 3 Morning News is expanding to meet that need. As the No. 1 morning news in Sacramento, we are proud and committed to providing our viewers with the important news, weather and traffic they need to start their day.”

KCRA says it will be the only station in the Sacramento area to begin morning news at 4 a.m. The morning newscasts are anchored by Deirdre Fitzpatrick, Teo Torres and Toni Valliere, with meteorologist Tamara Berg and traffic expert Melanie Hunter.
