KCRG Sets Alarm Clock for 4:30 A.M.

SourceMedia Group’s ABC affiliate KCRG is expanding its KCRG-TV9 First News by a half hour beginning Jan. 3, 2010, signing on at 4:30 a.m.

KCRG-TV9 First News will be anchored by current morning news journalists Ashley Hinson and Nicole Agee along with meteorologist Kaj O’Mara.

KCRG now offers 31 hours of locally generated news content per week.

Broadcast Product Director Shannon Booth says it wasn’t a hard decision to expand the newscast: “As a locally owned media company with the combined strength of KCRG-TV9 and the Gazette, SourceMedia Group needs to find additional ways of distributing the news content it generates. An additional newscast, will help us enhance our broadcast product as well as help broaden our online and social media efforts.”
