KENS Ups Phil Anaya To Weekend Anchor

Bedo-owned CBS affiliate KENS San Antonio, Texas (DMA 36), has promoted Phil Anaya to weekend Eyewitness News anchor. Effective April 28, he will co-anchor with Karen Grace alongside meteorologist Jared Silverman and sportscaster Vinnie Vinzetta.

After two years at Valparaiso University in Northwest Indiana, Anaya transferred to New Mexico State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism/mass communications with a minor in marketing.

While still in college, he worked as a multimedia journalist for KMSB Tucson, Ariz.

After graduating in May 2009, Anaya became a bureau reporter for KFOX El Paso, Texas, where he reported on everything from severe weather to politics all across southern New Mexico.

He joined KENS in June 2011.
