Kevin Harlan Named GM Of Nexstar’s WMBD
Nexstar Broadcasting Group today appointed Kevin Harlan vice president and general manager of CBS affiliate WMBD Peoria-Bloomington, Ill. (DMA 117), including the station’s Bounce subchannel and associated digital services, including CentralIllinoisProud.com.
In his new role, he will also oversee Nexstar’s relationship with Cunningham Broadcasting Corp.’s WYZZ (Fox) through an outsourcing agreement.
The new responsibilities are effectivelyimmediately and Harlan reports to Bill Sally, Nexstar SVP-regional manager.
Harlan’s career in broadcast television and sales management spans over three decades, including four years as VP-GM of Nexstar’s Peoria television and digital operations from 2002 to 2006.
Harlan’s background includes broadcast management experience across small and mid-size markets. He rejoins Nexstar from Huntington Broadcast Management Group, a company that provided television broadcast consulting and operational services, which he co-founded in 2013.
Prior to his term with Huntington, Harlan was GM of KCOY and KKFX, and he was also given additional responsibilities for Cowles California Media, including sales oversight of its CBS, Fox, Telemundo and CW affiliates in Monterey, Calif.

Prior to that, Harlan was the VP-GM of WKOW Madison, Wis.
He has also held various local and national broadcast sales management positions in St. Louis, Nashville and Buffalo, N.Y.
