KHOU Houston Adding 4 P.M. Newscast

The Belo CBS affiliate will launch the new afternoon newscast on Aug. 1 with anchor Len Cannon and weather with Chita Johnson.

Beginning Aug. 1, Belo’s CBS affiliate KHOU Houston (DMA 10), will add a half-hour of news to its weekday lineup with KHOU 11 News at 4. The newscast will fill the timeslot previously occupied by Oprah. Jeopardy will air at 4:30 p.m.

“We are thrilled to be able to repurpose this time period with two moves that will serve viewers local news and information, followed by Jeopardy, a show that Houstonians have watched on KHOU for 25 years,” said KHOU President-GM Susan McEldoon.

KHOU 11 News at 4 will be anchored by Len Cannon, who will continue his current role as co-anchor of KHOU’s 6 p.m. newscast.

Joining Cannon to cover weather, KHOU is adding Chita Johnson, who joining the station from KRCR Redding, Calif., where she was the morning meteorologist for the past four years.
