KMIZ Promotes Ashley Strohmier, Lindsey Berning

News-Press & Gazette Co.’s ABC affiliate KMIZ Columbia-Jefferson City, Mo. (DMA 136) has promoted two anchors.

Ashley Strohmier has been named evening co-anchor/reporter. She will join Lucas Geisler weekdays at 5 p.m. and will be on the desk with Joey Parker for the station’s 6, 6:30, 9 and 10 p.m. editions of ABC 17 News beginning Monday, July 31.

It’s a 12-hour change in Strohmier’s daily routine as she moves from anchoring ABC 17 News this Morning at 5 a.m. She started at the station in 2013 and took the reins of the morning show in 2015.

Lindsey Berning will be also be making a radical change to her work day, moving from anchoring the 5 p.m. newscast and reporting for the latenight shows to taking over the anchor desk on ABC17 News This Morning.

Berning grew up in Lincoln, Neb., and graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She joined the KMIZ news team as a reporter in August 2014. Berning was promoted to weekend anchor in June 2015 and then to the 5 p.m. desk in March 2016.
