KMIZ Taps Curtis Varns To Be New GM

News-Press & Gazette Co. today named Curtis Varns the new general manager of its ABC affiliate KMIZ Columbia, Mo. (DMA 138), which also offers Fox, MNT and Me TV programming on subchannels.

The appointment is effective immediately.

Varns brings more than 20 years of television experience and has served as KMIZ’s news director for 16 of those years.

“Curtis has done a terrific job as news director leading ABC 17 News to its No. 1 position in the November ratings period,” said Mike Meara, EVP-COO. “After a lengthy search of many high quality candidates, we determined that Curtis is the right person at the right time in Columbia.”
