The Scripps ABC affiliate in Phoenix promotes its director of new media to oversee all its cross-platform news operations.

E.W. Scripps-owned ABC affiliate KNXV Phoenix (DMA 11) has promoted Chris Kline to news director. He will oversee all cross-platform story gathering. Kline succeeds Pat Costello who left in January for the news director post at KOMO Seattle.

For the past three years, Kline has been director of new media at KNXV, managing the station’s growing digital strategy. He’s also served as an executive producer, Web producer and reporter during his eight-year tenure at the station.

Before joining KNXV, Kline worked as a convergence journalist for the Arizona Republic and at CNN’s Crossï¬Âre in Washington. He’s also been an adjunct faculty member at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism.

Kline received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from The George Washington University in Washington.
