KOLD Names Joe Hengemuehler News Dir.

Raycom-owned CBS affiliate KOLD Tucson, Ariz. (DMA 70) has hired Joe Hengemuehler to be its news director at the station. Hengemuehler will start at KOLD TV on Oct. 5.

Hengemuehler is veteran broadcast journalist and news leader. He has 25 years in markets including Washington, Phoenix and Oklahoma City.

He most recently held the interim communications director for the City of Glendale Ariz., where he oversees several divisions including public information, creative services, the Convention and Business Bureau and the Glendale-operated cable channel.

Hengemuehler worked at KNXV Phoenix for 10 years, the last six as news director. His news teams have been nationally recognized with a George Foster Peabody award for investigative reporting and an Edward R. Murrow Award as well as multiple local Emmy Awards for Overall News Excellence.
