KQCA To Launch Estrella TV Sacramento

Hearst-owned MNT affiliate KQCA Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), will launch the 24-hour Spanish language network Estrella TV Sacramento, on multicast ch. 58.3 starting June 1.  Estrella TV Sacramento will offer original Spanish-language programs.

“Estrella offers some of the highest-quality Spanish-language programming,” said KCRA-KQCA President-GM Elliott Troshinsky. “We’re committed to engaging with the Hispanic community and think it’s important to offer more diverse programming to our Spanish speaking viewers.”

Featuring top Latin American talent, Estrella TV Sacramento’s lineup includes game shows, talk shows, talent competitions, comedy, latenight talk and music shows.

Top-performing programs include Tengo Talento, Mucho Talento, a talent show featuring performers of all ages competing for cash prizes; Rica Famosa Latina, following the lives of a group of prominent “rich and famous” Latinas; and Noches Con Platanito, a primetime variety show in the vein of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.

In addition, Estrella TV Sacramento airs a nightly national newscast, Noticiero con Enrique Gratas, and a news magazine, Noticiero Estrella TV con Adriana Ruggiero.

In conjunction with the Estrella TV Sacramento launch, KQCA is expanding its promotions team to include several Spanish-speaking members.  Building on its successful community outreach, the newly expanded team will engage with the community at local Hispanic events. “The expansion will allow KQCA My58 and Estrella TV Sacramento to bring more attention to all of the great things happening in the Hispanic community,” Troshinsky said.

KQCA will partner with Liberman Broadcasting in presenting Estrella TV Sacramento to Northern California viewers. Liberman Broadcasting is one of the largest producers of Spanish-language television programming in the United States, and currently produces 56 hours of original television per week from its three production facilities.

Starting June 1, Estrella TV Sacramento can be seen over the air on ch. 58.3 and Comcast ch. 200. Additional cable channel listings will be available at kcra.com/estrellatv.
