KRGV Redesigns, Adds Features To Website

ABC affiliate KRGV Harlingen, Texas (DMA 86), today unveiled a redesigned website with additional features targeted to improve the user experience.  The website’s backend is still Synapse’s OPYN content management system; however, KRGV worked with Synapse to update the design of the website.

One of the major changes includes using Synapse’s continuous news module.  This module lets visitors stay on one page of the website and continuously receive updates throughout the day with the latest breaking news.  Another change is a less video-centric home page and more user-friendly site.

Additionally, Synapse has deployed “News in Brief” for KRGV. This feature lets reporters publish breaking news stories as they are developing, as well as quick updates on other news stories. This feature will also let the staff push these articles to Facebook and Twitter, if necessary.

Finally, the website now includes the station’s Facebook and Twitter feeds, in addition to the most recent stories and the most popular stories.

KRGV, with the help of Synapse, has also added closed captioning in the “Watch the Latest Newscast” feature.
