KTXL Names Monika Diaz News Director

Tribune’s Sacramento Fox affiliate promotes her from assistant news director to the top spot in the newsroom.

Tribune Broadcasting’s Fox affiliate KTXL Sacramento, Calif. (DMA 20), on Wednesday promoted Monika Diaz to the station’s news director, effective immediately.

Diaz has served as the assistant news director since December 2016 and is responsible for overseeing all of the newsroom’s daily operations. Diaz will report to Leigh White, KTXL’s VP-GM.

Diaz joined KTXL in March 2014 as a managing editor and was promoted to assistant news director in late 2016. Prior to joining Fox40, Diaz was a general assignment reporter at WFAA Dallas and Noticiero 48.

“This is a wonderful opportunity,” said Diaz. “We have a tremendous newsroom filled with talented journalists, producers, writers and photographers — this is a great team working in one of the most dynamic markets in the country.”

Diaz is the winner of two Lone Star Emmy awards and two Texas AP awards. She earned a bachelor’s degree in communications journalism from Florida State University.
