KUSA Denver, Paper Launch Wildfire Campaign

Due to intense interest in the wake of the ongoing wildfires in northern Colorado, Bannett NBC affiliate KUSA Denver (DMA 17) will be collecting donations both for wildfire victims and firefighters as a part of 9Cares Colorado Shares and an ongoing project with the Fort Collins Coloradoan.

KUSA President-GM Mark Cornetta said: “We’ve seen incredible viewer interest, as indicated by Nielsen, for both our newscasts and our website. That tremendous interest from our viewers has inspired us to take that concern and emotion and focus it into a source of tangible aid and comfort for both the victims of the fire and the brave men and women fighting those fires. Colorado has a long tradition of neighbors helping neighbors, and I am confident we’ll see an enormous outpouring of support.”

The 9Cares Colorado Shares Summer Drive is this Saturday, June 16, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Donations specifically for wildfire relief will be accepted at the KUSA studios, 500 Speer Blvd. in Denver, and at the King Soopers at 4503 JFK Parkway in Fort Collins. The station is accepting cash and checks on behalf of the American Red Cross and the Colorado Professional Firefighters Foundation.

In addition to the 9Cares Colorado Shares event, people can visit the “Wildfires” section on 9NEWS.com or on coloradoan.com for information on how to donate time or money to the wildfire relief efforts.
