KVEA Names Alejandra Ortiz Weekday Anchor
Telemundo-owned KVEA Los Angeles (DMA 2) today appointed Alejandra Ortiz news anchor for the station’s weekday 5 and 6 a.m. newscasts, Noticiero Telemundo 52.
Ortiz will join weather anchor Michelle Trujillo and reporters Sandra Bonilla and Balbino Aviles. Ortiz will replace current morning news anchor, Nancy Leal, who has been named co-anchor of Noticiero Telemundo 39 airing weekdays at 4 and 4:30 p.m. on Telemundo’s KXTX Dallas-Fort Worth.
Ortiz joined KVEA in 2017 as the weekend news anchor for Noticiero Telemundo 52 at 6 and 11 p.m. Ortiz also worked for sister-station KBLR Las Vegas. Prior to joining KBLR in 2016, she worked for CM&, the Colombian news network launched in the early 1990’s.
Prior to this, Ortiz worked at various other Colombian television networks, newspapers, magazines, and radio stations as a producer, reporter, scriptwriter and radio host. Ortiz is tri-lingual — fluent in Spanish, English and French — and has hosted, produced and scripted television shows in all three languages.
Ortiz earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Bogota, Colombia. While in college, she interned for Telemundo Network’s Noticiero Telemundo and Time Warner Cable’s 24×7 Spanish-language channel in New York City, NY1 Noticias. She has also served as a contributor to news outlets including CNN en Español.
