KVEA Names Ruben Keoseyan VP Of Content

Telemundo taps the former executive editor of La Opinión to lead its Los Angeles news efforts.

Telemundo Media has appointed Ruben Keoseyan as vice president of content of the Hispanic group owner’s KVEA Los Angeles, effective immediately. Keoseyan will report to Celia Chavez, the station’s president-GM.

In this role, Keoseyan will lead KVEA’s news department across all platforms. In addition, he will be responsible for ensuring all local newscasts reflect and serve the needs and uniqueness of the Greater Los Angeles Hispanic community.

Previously, Keoseyan was executive editor of the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the United States, Los Angeles’ La Opinión, since 2011. Keoseyan also worked with La Opinión from 2000 to 2005, as managing editor and was later promoted to executive editor.

Prior to this, he served as publisher and editor of the largest Spanish-language newspaper in the Midwest, La Raza, in Chicago, a position he held until August of 2011. Keoseyan also served as director of Primera Hora, a newspaper based in Puerto Rico.

During the 1990’s, Keoseyan worked at KEYT Santa Barbara, Calif., as news simultaneous interpreter. During this time, he founded the first 30-minute Spanish-language newscast in California’s central coast through an NBC affiliate. Keoseyan began his journalistic career as an intern for Grupo Televisa in Mexico, where he contributed to news reports for the network and learned sports commentary.

Keoseyan received an undergraduate degree from Universidad Iberoamericana in Mexico City and a Master of Science from the American University in Washington.
