DMA 39: AUSTIN, TX

KVUE Names Albert Ramon Chief Meteorologist.

Tegna-owned ABC affiliate KVUE Austin, Texas (DMA 39), has promoted long-time weatherman Albert Ramon to chief meteorologist. For the past six years Ramon has been meteorologist of KVUE’s morning newscast, Daybreak.

News Director Mike Redding said: “Albert is tremendously popular in Austin and has grown into a real leader at KVUE. Over the years he has championed numerous community causes such as the KVUE Cares Blood Drive and For the Children School Supply Drive. He has also pioneered the use of social media tools to meet the audience with vital information during severe weather, where they want it. We are proud to announce this well-deserved promotion.”

Ramon joined KVUE in October 2009 as the weekend morning and evening meteorologist. In June of 2010, he moved to weekdays and joined the Daybreak and Midday teams.

Ramon was born and raised in the South Texas community of Beeville. He has a degree in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University, and a degree in communication in media studies from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.

He earned the Seal of Approval from both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association and has also received the Texas Associate Press award for best weathercast.
