KVUE Names Mike Redding News Director

Tegna moves him from its Portland and Bangor, Maine stations to oversee news at its Austin, Texas, ABC affiliate.

 

Mike Redding will be joining Tegna-owned ABC affiliate KVUE Austin, Texas (DMA 39), as news director on Aug. 16. Redding joins KVUE after serving three years as news director of two of Tegna’s NBC stations, WCSH in Portland, Maine, and WLBZ in Bangor, Maine.

Before Redding became news director at WCSH and WLBZ, he was the executive producer at WFMY Greensboro, N.C. He has also served as managing editor at WDBJ Roanoke, Va., and as a communications coach for five televisions stations and one newspaper.

At varying points in his career, Redding has produced newscasts, worked the assignment desk, covered news as a general assignment reporter for more than a decade, and hosted Carolina Traveler, a weekly news magazine.

As a reporter, Redding has been recognized throughout his career with 28 Emmys, two National Edward R. Murrow Awards, 11 Regional Murrows, and 11 Associated Press awards.

He is a graduate of the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.
