KWEX San Antonio To Celebrate 60th Anniversary

Univision’s KWEX San Antonio, Texas (DMA 33), will celebrate its 60th anniversary with a two-day event. The celebration will kick-off with a VIP reception and ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand re-opening of its downtown studio at the Historic Market Square on Friday, June 26, followed by a community event on Sunday, June 28, at Trader’s Village.

State Representative Trey Martinez Fischer will bestow a proclamation for the station’s 60 years of service to the San Antonio community and will be joined by community leaders, elected officials and some of Univision’s on-air personalities.

Carlos Calderon, co-host of Sal y Pimienta (Salt and Pepper), Maria Antonieta Collins, senior correspondent of Noticiero Univision, Tony Dandrades reporter for Primer Impacto (First Impact), Lili Estefan, co-host of El Gordo y La Flaca (The Scoop and the Skinny), Arantxa Loizaga, anchor of the weekend evening edition of Noticiero Univision, and co-host Alan Tacher and reporter Orlando Segura of Despierta América (Wake Up America), and Raul Brindis, host of the popular syndicated radio show, El Show de Raul Brindis (The Raul Brindis Show), will be in attendance throughout the two-day celebration.

They will be joined by KWEX’s local on-air personalities including news anchors Jorge Nunez, Brenda Jimenez and Myrna Salas; senior reporters Antonio Guillen and Monica Navarro; weather anchor Prissila Sanchez; reporter Keyhla Calderon; video journalists Anuar Revuelta and Mariana Veraza; morning weather/traffic reporter Alejandra Becerra; sports anchor Rafael Caederera and sports video journalist Francisco “Paco” Fuentes.

The events will also feature performances by Grupo Varonil, Lucky Joe, Stefani Montiel, La Reunion Norteña, Michael Salgado, AJ Castillo; La Original Banda Limon, Energia Nortena, LAS Fenix, Polo Urias y Su Maquina Nortena, Ruben Ramos & the Texas Revolution, David Lee Garza, Los Texmaniacs, Campanas de America and Jerry Diaz/Ballet Folklorico.
