KWQC Davenport Ups John Mann To GM

Media General promotes him from general sales manager at its Iowa NBC affiliate to the top slot, succeeding Ken Freedman.

Media General’s NBC affiliate KWQC Davenport, Iowa (DMA 101), today appointed John Mann vice president and general manager. Mann was promoted to this position after serving as the station’s general sales manager since 2012. He succeeds Ken Freedman.

Mann has more than 35 years of experience in media sales, sales management and station management. Throughout his career, he has held a variety of leadership roles, including president-GM, general sales manager, national sales manager and local sales manager, at stations in small, medium and major television markets across the U.S.

In his most recent role as general sales manager for KWQC, the station said Mann maximized revenue and audience growth through strategic planning and tactical execution. As a result, the station increased its audited core revenue share in 2013, 2014 and 2015 to the highest achieved since 2004.

In his new role that is effective immediately, Mann will provide strategic direction, leadership and operational management for KWQC. He will report to Bob Peterson, Media General’s VP of broadcast markets.

Mann received his bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, with a minor in political science, from Bowling Green State University.
