Kyle I. Grimes, president and general manager since 2012 of WPTZ-WNNE, the Hearst Television NBC affiliates in Plattsburgh, N.Y.-Burlington, Vt. (DMA 98), today was appointed president and general manager of WGAL, Hearst’s NBC affiliate in Lancaster-Harrisburg-Lebanon-York, Pa (DMA 44).

The appointment is effective July 1. Grimes succeeds John L. Humphries, who has been named president-GM of WYFF, the company’s NBC affiliate in Greenville-Spartanburg, SC-Asheville, NC.  Grimes’ successor at WPTZ-WNNE will be announced at a later date, the company said.

“Kyle is an outstanding executive who will provide the next generation of leadership to WGAL,” said Jordan Wertlieb, Hearst Television’s president. “His news and management experience within several Hearst Television stations, including prominent NBC affiliates with stalwart community service, makes him the ideal choice to lead this great television station.”

Grimes has spent his entire 17-year career with Hearst Television and is finishing his second assignment at WPTZ-WNNE, having served as the stations’ news director from 2005 to 2008.  In between his two positions at WPTZ-WNNE, he was news director at WPBF, the Hearst ABC affiliate in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Before his first assignment at WPTZ-WNNE, Grimes was a newscast producer at Hearst’s KCRA-KQCA Sacramento, Calif.  He began his career at Hearst’s KSBW Monterey-Salinas, Calif.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from Syracuse University. He is also the recipient of a Radio Television Digital News Foundation fellowship.

Among Grimes’ industry associations, he serves on the board of the Mount Mansfield Colocation Corporation, the governing entity for the region’s collection of broadcast towers, and he serves as treasurer of the Vermont Association of Broadcasters.
