Larry Olevitch Named GM Of WTVJ Miami

NBC promotes the station’s senior vice president of sales to succeed Manuel Martinez, who has moved to head the Telemundo Station Group.

NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations today named veteran Larry Olevitch president and general manager of WTVJ Miami (DMA 16). Olevitch succeeds Manuel Martinez, who was recently named president of the NBCU’s Telemundo Station Group.

Olevitch, who will report to Valari Staab, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations president, and start his new position immediately. He brings more than 30 years of local television experience to his new role, including over a decade at NBCUniversal. For the last two years, he was WTVJ’s SVP of sales.

Before coming to WTVJ, Olevitch was the SVP of integrated media at the NBC Owned Stations for four years, where he created a new team dedicated to the sales function of all non-broadcast businesses. Previously, he was the VP of sales at WTVJ.

Prior to joining NBCUniversal, Olevitch was with Scripps Howard Broadcasting, where he worked as sales manager and research director at WPTV West Palm Beach, Fla., for five years and in various sales positions at WEWS Cleveland for nearly 15 years. Olevitch began his career as a local account manager for Viacom.

Olevitch holds a B.A. in film management from Bowling Green State University.

I don’t know Mr. O, but he is obviously quite a gentleman, according to your comments. They were refreshing to see, and I hope he finds them and that they warm his heart and encourage him.
