Lauren Magiera Joins WGN Sports

Tribune-owned CWaffiliate WGN Chicago (DMA 3) has hired Lauren Magiera as sports anchor/reporter, slated to start mid-April.

Magiera joins WGN from the NFL Green Bay Packers, where she was a co-host of a weekly 30 minute pre-game show with Packers Hall of Famer Larry McCarren.  In addition to the pre-game show, Magiera produced weekly feature stories, hosted home games as the field reporter, and created online content for Packers.com.

Prior to her time with the Packers, Magiera worked for several stations in a sports capacity including as director-producer-reporter at WAOW Wausau, Wis., and for several stations in Anchorage, Alaska, including as sports reporter/fill-in anchor at KTUU, sports director KIMO, and as play-by-play for University of Alaska gymnastics meets for the Family Network.

A college athlete, Magiera graduated from University of Alaska Anchorage with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and public communications on a full gymnastics scholarship.
