Lee To Head Univision News, Ent. And Digital

Isaac Lee will be responsible for Univision Cmmunications’ news, entertainment and digital content across platforms, as well as the company’s music efforts.

Univision Communications today promoted Chief News and Digital Officer Isaac Lee to the newly created position of chief news, entertainment and digital officer. Lee will continue to report to Randy Falco, Univision president-CEO.

In this position, Lee will be responsible for UCI’s news, entertainment and digital content across platforms, as well as the company’s music efforts. He will continue to oversee FMG, which includes UCI’s interests in Fusion and El Rey as well as The Root, The Onion, A.V. Club, Clickhole, Flama, Univision Digital and Univision Music. Additionally, he is leading the search that is underway for UCI’s new president of entertainment, a position that will report to Lee.

The company said this multi-platform strategy is designed to allow Univision to strengthen and expand its content offerings and build on the 81 million average monthly unduplicated media consumers UCI reaches across its portfolio of media brands, which includes two broadcast networks, 11 cable networks, 126 local television and radio stations and an array of digital brands.

Lee will continue to work closely with Televisa, and will continue to develop the newly launched Storyhouse, Univision’s development and production arm led by Camila Jimenez-Villa and Juan Rendon, which recently announced the co-production of a series with Netflix, El Chapo, based on the life story of one of the world’s most notorious criminals, and has also inked a content deal with HBO. Lee will also oversee UCI’s joint venture with Patricio Wills, W Studios.

Lee has been leading journalistic teams for nearly 20 years at publications serving Spanish-speaking audiences in the U.S. and Latin America .He joined UCI in December 2010 as president of news, and most recently held the position of chief news and digital officer where he spearheaded the company’s digital expansion and the creation of the Fusion Media Group, with the acquisition of The Root and the strategic investments in Fusion and The Onion.
