Les Vann Named GM Of WHNS Greenville

Meredith Corp. on Monday named Les Vann vice president and general manager of Fox affiliate WHNS Greenville-Spartanburg, S.C.-Asheville, N.C. (DMA 37). He will begin his new duties April 10.

Vann has 40 years of television experience, including VP-GM positions in markets including Indianapolis; Cincinnati; Savannah, Ga.; and Asheville, N.C. Most recently he was GM of WFTX Fort Myers, Fla.

“Les is an experienced television executive with a proven track record of news, sales and community leadership across a variety of markets,” said Meredith Local Media Group President Paul Karpowicz.  “We are very excited about bringing Les back to a market he knows well, and where he had tremendous success.”

Vann is a graduate of Illinois State University, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree in communications. He began his career as an anchor, moving swiftly to a role as news director and then general manager. He completed the National Association of Broadcasters’ Management School at Northwestern University, and currently is Secretary of the Fox Affiliate Board of Governors.
