Lockwood Buying WCWG Greensboro

The purchase of the North Carolina CW affiliate will increase Lockwood’s TV station portfolio to six stations in five markets.

Lockwood Broadcast Group announced today that it has signed an agreement with subsidiaries of TTBG LLC to acquire CW affiliate WCWG Greensboro-Lexington, N.C., for an undisclosed price. The transaction is expected to close later this year following FCC approval.

Lockwood President Dave Hanna said: “We are excited to own a station in the Greensboro DMA, and feel WCWG is a perfect fit for Lockwood Broadcasting.  Growth is our mode—we’ve now doubled in size since 2011—and we will continue to seek out and acquire television properties that complement our business.”

Lockwood owns five stations in four markets: Knoxville, Tenn. (WBXX-WMAK); Charleston-Huntington,  W.Va. (WQCW); Huntsville-Decatur, Als. (WHDF);  and Sherman, Texas-Ada, Okla. (KTEN).
