Longtime Sunbeam Exec Bob Leider Retiring

His last day is Sept. 1, but Leider will consult the three-station group, which is owned by Ed Ansin and comprises Fox affiliate in Miami and NBC and CW affiliates in Boston. Boston GM Chris Wayland has been tapped to step up when Leider steps down.

After a 40-year-run in broadcasting, Bob Leider, executive vice president and general manager of Sunbeam Television, is retiring as of Sept. 1, it was announced this afternoon.

In his current role, he oversees all three of Sunbeam’s stations — WSVN Miami, a Fox affiliate, and WHDH-WLVI, an NBC-CW duopoly in Boston. The group is owned by Ed Ansin.

Leider will be succeeded by Chris Wayland, now the GM of the Boston stations.

According to Sunbeam, Leider will remain active post-retirement with the station group and in civic affairs. He will become a consultant to the company with the title of vice president and continue as a board member of the Habitat for Humanity of Broward and the Seminole Hard Rock Winterfest Boat Parade.
