Manfredi To Head NBCU Cable-New Media

Frances Manfredi, EVP-general sales manager for cable and non-theatrical sales, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution, is promoted to president of NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution.

Frances Manfredi has been promoted to president of NBCUniversal Cable and New Media Distribution, it was announced today by Ted Harbert, chairman, NBC Broadcasting, and Rick Finkelstein, vice chairman and chief operating officer, Universal Studios, to whom she will dually report.

Manfredi will continue to oversee NBCUniversal’s product distribution to basic and pay cable and new media platforms. She also oversees all of the company’s non-theatrical distribution business. Manfredi will continue to work closely with Barry Wallach, president, Domestic Television Distribution, and the Domestic TV Distribution team.

“Frances is a truly extraordinary executive whose contributions to NBCUniversal have been significant,” said Harbert. “This promotion is a well-deserved recognition of the impact and value of her role at the company.”

Over the course of her career, Manfredi has overseen multiple deals in both television and film, including: the off-net sale of shows such as 30 Rock, Law & Order, House, Las Vegas and The Office; the sale of Universal Pictures’ 2011 and 2009 slates to USA Network; the strategic partnership between NBCU and American Airlines; the first run sale of Friday Night Lights to DirectTV; a studio deal with Netflix’s VOD platform; and Universal Pictures’ deal with HBO that will keep Universal’s top box office titles heading to HBO for the next several years.

Manfredi has been EVP-general sales manager, cable and non-theatrical sales, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution since 2007. She was promoted to that role after serving as the SVP, cable sales, NBCUniversal Domestic Television Distribution for four years. Before the NBC Universal merger in May 2004, she was SVP, cable sales, NBC Enterprises.

Prior to joining NBC Enterprises, Manfredi was a consultant to NBC Enterprises, as well as other clients including CBS News Productions. Manfredi also served as VP of domestic cable sales and special markets for CBS from 1998 to 2000.
