Margaret Lazo To Head HR At Unvision

Univision Communications today announced that Margaret Lazo is joining the company as chief human resources officer, starting April 11.

She will be based in New York and report to Randy Falco, president-CEO. Roberto Llamas, who previously served as EVP of human resources and community empowerment, resigned from the company to pursue other opportunities.

Lazo joins Univision from GE Capital where she was global human resources leader, consecutively, for the company’s Commercial Real Estate and the Americas’ Lending and Leasing businesses.

Prior to GE Capital, she served in a number of human resources leadership roles at NBCUniversal, including EVP, human resources for cable and broadcast entertainment and digital properties and SVP, human resources telemundo communications group and VP, human resources for the TV stations division.

Among her contributions at NBC Universal, Lazo drove integration and change management plans following the company’s acquisition by Comcast, led organizational simplification initiatives and facilitated a number of leadership transitions.

She served as the HR functional acquisition integration leader supporting NBC’s purchase of Telemundo in 2001 and was a key contributor to shaping Telemundo’s business strategy following the acquisition, including the startup of content production studios in the US and Latin America.

Lazo began her career working in human resources management at Macy’s. She graduated cum laude from St. John’s University with a degree in communications.
