Mark Burdett Named President-GM Of WUSA

The former executive at Washington TV stations and the Baltimore Ravens is tapped by Gannett to succeed Allan Horlick as head of its CBS affiliate in D.C.

Gannett’s Broadcasting Division named Mark Burdett president and general manager of CBS affiliate WUSA Washington (DMA 8). Burdett formerly was vice president of corporate sales and development for the Baltimore Ravens, and earlier senior director of partnerships and development for the NFL team.

Burdett succeeds Allan Horlick, who announced his retirement in November.

Prior to joining the Baltimore Ravens in 2000, Burdett served as senior vice president for the Washington Redskins. In addition to Burdett’s work with the two NFL teams, he also has extensive local and national media experience. Prior to joining the Redskins, he was VP-station manager, and director of sales and marketing, at WJLA Washington from 1996 to 1999; and was VP of station relations for ABC Television Network in 1995-96.

Earlier experience includes local sales manager of WJLA; general sales manager of KTXA Houston; national sales manager and local sales manager of WDCA Washington; and an account executive for WXTR-AM Washington.

Burdett graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Arts degree.
