Mark McKay Named KTAL Shreveport GM

Nexstar Broadcasting Group announced today that Mark McKay has been appointed vice president and general manager of KTAL, its NBC affiliate in Shreveport, La.-Texarkana, Texas (DMA 83).  The appointment, effective today, marks the return for McKay to KTAL where, in 1980, as he began his broadcasting career as a news anchor and reporter.

Since 2004 Mr. McKay has been VP-GM of Nexstar’s KAMR (NBC), KCIT (Fox), and KCPN (MNT) Amarillo, Texas.

McKay will continue to report to Brian Jones, co-chief operating officer of Nexstar Broadcasting and will have overall responsibility for KTAL’s station and e-Media operations including news production, sales, community relations and arklatexhomepage.com.

From 2001 to 2004 McKay was VP-general sales manager of Nexstar’s KMID Odessa-Midland, Texas.

Prior to joining Nexstar in 2001, McKay was an executive with Warwick Communications Inc. from 1992 to 1999, serving the VP-GM of KFXK, KFLX and KLPNLongview-Tyler-Lufkin, Texas. McKay has also held operational, programming and promotional management positions for Clear Channel Television and Communications Corp of America and has worked in the broadcasting industry since 1977.

McKay is a 1978 graduate of East Texas State University where he received his Bachelor of Arts in TV production. He received his Master of Arts at Webster University with a major in management and a minor in marketing. He served on the Board of the Texas Association of Broadcasters in Austin for six years.
