Matt Piacente Named ND Of Fox Chicago Duo

He moves from WVIT Hartford, Conn., to become VP of news for WFLD and WPWR.

Matt Piacente on Monday been named VP-news director of the Fox’s duopoly in Chicago (DMA 3), which consists of WFLD (Fox) and WPWR (MNT). Beginning April 18, Piacente will oversee all editorial, business and administrative functions for WFLD-WPWR.

Most recently, Piacente was VP of news for WVIT Hartford, Conn. Previously, he spent 15 years as executive producer at WMAQ Chicago. Prior to that, Piacente was a producer for six years at various Chicago television news operations, first at CLTV News, then WGN and lastly, WLS.

A graduate of the University of Missouri, Piacente holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications.

Piacente said: “Working for 20 years in Chicago news has given me so many great experiences, foremost teaching me that the viewer always comes first. It’s an honor to return to my hometown with the opportunity to work for an organization which understands this and whose mission is to connect with viewers across the Chicago area.”

Hopefully, female reporters won’t be told not to wear hats or caps in freezing winter Chicago weather with this new administration.
