Me-TV Signs With KOFY San Francisco

The addition of the Granite independent pushes the classic TV diginet to 62% U.S. coverage.

Me-TV today announced an affiliation agreement with KOFY in the San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose market (DMA 6). The Granite Broadcasting station is an independent that covers the nine Bay Area counties. Me-TV said it will launch “soon” and be carried over the air on ch. 20.2. Discussions are underway to return Me-TV to cable systems in the market.

“When Newport Television recently sold KFTY to a Hispanic broadcaster, Me-TV received almost 3,000 email requests from viewers wanting to know where Me-TV’s new home in the Bay Area would be,” said Neal Sabin, president of content and networks for Weigel Broadcasting Co., Me-TV’s owner. “We are happy to announce to them and the hundreds of viewers who inundated cable companies, Facebook pages and other media outlets that our partner will be Granite Broadcasting Corporation’s KOFY.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled at KOFY-TV to be adding Me-TV to our family,” said Craig Coane, KOFY president-GM. “KOFY-TV and Me-TV are a great fit.”

The launch on KOFY will increase Me-TV’s market clearance to 62% of the U.S.

Me-TV’s library includes series from Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, CBS Television Distribution, NBCUniversal Television as well as independent series owners and producers. Me-TV, memorable entertainment television, launched nationally in December 2010, is owned and operated by Weigel Broadcasting Co. and distributed by MGM Television.
