Media General Makes Market Appointments

The company, whose management is organized by geographic segments, has named Marilyn L. Hammond president and market leader, North Carolina, effective Jan. 1, 2011; Dan Bradley becomes president/market leader, Ohio/Rhode Island, effective immediately; and James R. Conschafter is now president/market leader, Virginia/Tennessee, succeeding the retiring James A. Zimmerman.

Media General announced today that Marilyn L. Hammond has been named president and market leader, North Carolina, effective Jan. 1, 2011. Dan Bradley has been named president and market leader, Ohio/Rhode Island, effective immediately.

In her new role, Hammond will succeed James R. Conschafter, who will become president and market leader, Virginia/Tennessee. In his new role, Conschafter will succeed James A. Zimmerman, who plans to retire after 35 years with Media General, effective Dec. 31.

“We are pleased to promote Marilyn Hammond and Dan Bradley into new roles as leaders of two of Media General’s geographic market segments,” said Marshall N. Morton, president-chief executive of Media General. “In their new roles, Marilyn and Dan will have responsibility for all of the company’s media platforms within their respective markets. Marilyn has done an outstanding job as our vice president, sales operations, helping to lead the transformation of our sales staffs to full multimedia sellers.”

“Today, we offer our customers one-stop shopping with a single sales representative for all of our advertising products and media platforms. Dan has a long history of leading our multimedia journalism practices, and, more recently, he has done an excellent job as vice president and general manager of our NBC affiliate in Columbus, Ohio.
