Meteorologist Shay Ryan Joins WFTS Tampa

Scripps-owned ABC affiliate WFTS Tampa, Fla. (DMA 14) has hired meteorologist Shay Ryan to its news team beginning Aug. 13. Ryan joins the morning team of Dan Shaffer, Deiah Riley and Meredyth Censullo weekdays from 5 to 7 a.m. and on ABC Action News at Noon.

Ryan was most recently a weather anchor for WNYW New York and Fox News Channel. She has extensive experience covering severe storms, record flooding and heat waves during her time as a meteorologist in New York, Michigan, Georgia and Mississippi. While in Savannah, she covered Hurricane Floyd.

Ryan received her bachelor’s degree in telecommunication from the University of Florida. She has also earned a master’s degree in geoscience with a concentration in broadcast meteorology from Mississippi State University. She is a member of the American Meteorological Society and has earned the AMS seal of approval.
