Michelle Germano New WTVD News Director

She moves from KOLD Tucson to oversee news operations at the ABC Owned station in Raleigh-Durham, N.C.

Michelle Germano on Thursday was named news director of ABC-owned WTVD Raleigh-Durham, N.C. (DMA 25). She will officially join the ABC11 Eyewitness News team in September. She succeeds Rob Elmore who left in May to become news director of KABC Los Angeles.

As news director, Germano will be responsible for the more than 45 hours of news produced weekly, as well as for the news content on abc11.com.

Germano comes to the station from KOLD Tucson, Ariz., where she has been news director for the past 12 years.  In this position, she was also responsible for the digital and production teams.  In her tenure, Germano lead a successful shared service agreement between KOLD (Raycom) and KMSB (Tegna) that delivered 50 hours of news a week.

Prior to Tucson, Germano worked at KPRC Houston as a producer and in Corpus Christi, Texas, as an assistant news director/anchor.

Germano holds a Bachelor of Arts in broadcasting and advertising from Texas State University. She has been awarded three regional Emmy awards for breaking news coverage.
