Mike Garber Named KTVT-KTXA News Director

The former news director of WPTV-WFLX West Palm Beach, Fla., will lead the news operations at CBS’s Dallas duopoly.

Mike Garber has been named VP-news director of CBS-owned KTVT (CBS) and KTXA (independent) in Dallas (DMA 5). He succeeds Adrienne Roark, who left in June to become GM of KOIN Portland, Ore. Garber will join KTVT-KTXA later this month.

He joins KTVT-KTXA from WPTV-WFLX West Palm Beach, Fla., where has been news director since 2012. During his tenure, WPTV was honored with a Regional Edward R. Murrow Award for Overall Excellence and a regional EMMY Award for News Excellence.

Garber was news director at WTLV-WJXX Jacksonville, Fla., from 2008 to 2012. Prior to that, he was news director at WLTX Columbia, S.C., and before that, he was assistant news director at KGUN Tucson, Ariz.

A graduate of the University of South Florida, Garber began his career as a sports producer at WTVT Tampa, Fla. He later held the same position at WFTS Tampa and CBS-owned KPIX San Francisco.
