NAB 2011: Visionary Solutions Products Preview
2011 NAB Show Preview
Visionary Solutions Inc. (VSI) manufactures Internet protocol television (IPTV) equipment that provides real-time transport of video over IP networks. The product updates and enhancements below all apply to VSI’s AVN series components:
Modular Flexibility Enhancements—VSI will introduce a new order fulfillment scheme that will enable the customization of AVN series encoders, providing greater flexibility and cost-effectiveness for many IP streaming applications. Firmware installed on the blades for each order gives users the flexibility to upgrade as needed, and never pay for unnecessary features. For example, a customer can choose a base model to stream 480i SD video — and then add modules for increased resolution (720p, 1080i, 1080p) or SMPTE 2022 forward error correction later. The company plans to make other optional feature modules available in the future.
This new fulfillment scheme will also present better pricing options as the three prepackaged models previously available (AVN422, AVN441, and AVN443) will now produce more than 20 orderable configurations thanks to their modularity.
Advanced HD Encoding—New for the NAB Show will be the addition of h.264-over-IP encoding at full 1080p60 in the AVN443, AVN441, and AVN422 modules, which previously were limited to 1080i. This technological advancement enables the processing of the highest resolution HD signals via IP streams — a must to handle the growing demand for the best possible video quality available in all applications.
Closed Captioning—VSI will introduce the newly added capability to process closed captioning (EIA-608 and EIA-708), for both SD and HD signals, using the AVN443 blade (SDI and HDSDI input). Closed captioning for composite input (EIA-608) will also be available on the AVN441, to fulfill closed-captioning requirements for SD h.264-over-IP applications.
