NAB Highlights ‘From Podcast To Broadcast’

Top creatives and podcast creators discuss trend of hit podcasts becoming TV series at an NAB Show session.

The NAB Show will present “From Podcast to Broadcast,” a main stage keynote session featuring Alex, Inc. executive producers Zach Braff and Matt Tarses, the creators and host of the breakout hit podcast Up and Vanished, and others. The session will take place Tuesday, April 10, at 9:30 a.m. in the North Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center.

Session participants include:

• Zach Braff — star, executive producer and director of ABC’s Alex, Inc. (which was adapted from the “Startup” podcast).

• Matt Tarses — executive producer and writer, ABC’s Alex, Inc.

• Payne Lindsey — co-founder of Tenderfoot TV, producer and host, Up and Vanished (currently in development as an investigative docu-series for Oxygen) and Atlanta Monster.

• Donald Albright — co-founder of Tenderfoot TV, producer, Up and Vanished and Atlanta Monster.

These top creatives and popular podcast creators will engage in a discussion about the path from audio to video, and the trend that has led ABC, Amazon, HBO, Bravo, Oxygen and others to adapt top podcasts into series.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

“Television distributors are taking notice, and we’re now seeing top podcasts like ‘Startup’ and ‘Up and Vanished’ reimagined for TV across a variety of platforms,” said Chris Brown, NAB EVP of conventions and business operations. “This is an exciting development for media and entertainment, and we welcome these creators to NAB Show and look forward to a revealing conversation.”

Alex, Inc. airs on ABC Wednesdays at 8:30 ET/7:30 CT and is produced by 2 Soups Productions; Davis Entertainment Television; Second Stix Films; and Gimlet Media in association with ABC Studios and Sony Pictures Television.
