Satellite industry expert Mark Dankberg of ViaSat to Deliver Keynote Remarks at the one-day program on April 19.

The 2016 NAB Show will feature the new Satellite Industry Forum, a one-day program produced in partnership with the Satellite Industry Association (SIA). Held Tuesday, April 19, the forum will focus on the role the satellite industry plays in broadcasting and delivering high quality video content to and from anywhere on the planet — on land, sea or in the air.

“The SATCON conference is a major component of our NAB Show New York event, and we are pleased to partner with SIA for the Satellite Industry Forum at the NAB Show to further strengthen our commitment to this industry,” said Chris Brown EVP of conventions and business operations. “Satellite technology continues to be a strong driver in the evolution of media, entertainment and content delivery overall.”

Mark D. Dankberg, co-founder of ViaSat. will deliver the forum’s keynote address titled, “The Data Revolution in Satellite Communications” at 1 p.m. in S225 of the Las Vegas Convention Center on April 19. Earlier this year, ViaSat announced plans to develop the first global broadband communications platform designed to deliver affordable, high-speed Internet connectivity and video streaming.

Dankberg has served as CEO and chairman of the company since its inception in 1986. He is an industry expert in aerospace, defense and satellite communications. He has co-authored several military standards on satellite networking, and holds a number of patents in communications and satellite networking technologies. He has participated on Department of Defense advisory panels and was invited to testify before a Congressional committee on high-technology growth companies and IPOs.

“In a connected world where customers of all types are demanding increased global content and services, we are proud to organize the inaugural Satellite Industry Forum at NAB Show,” said Tom Stroup, president of the Satellite Industry Association. “From providing the world with global broadband and in-flight entertainment to the delivery of Ultra HD services, satellites continue to feed the worldwide thirst to be connected, and satellite companies continue to deliver ground-breaking new services designed to further connect the world for decades to come.”

In addition to the keynote address, the Satellite Industry Forum will feature three panel discussions that address the role of satellites in the delivery of ultra-HD content, satellite broadband technology and delivery, and in-flight satellite entertainment and connectivity for the aviation industry.
