Rohde & Schwarz USA | Booth SL6610 | www.rohdeschwarz.com | 6821 Benjamin Franklin Dr., Columbia, MD 21046 | 410-910-7800
Rohde & Schwarz has developed the world’s first IT server-based exciter solution for ATSC 3.0 broadcasts, the R&S SDE900, and by that revolutionized the implementation process of broadcast standards. With a pure software-based approach that ideally prepares network operators for ATSC 3.0., the SDE900 ensures that broadcast standard network operators’ future needs for flexibility can be optimally addressed.
The SDE900 is designed as a plug-in, rackmount module for the Tx9 generation of transmitters, making it an easy upgrade path to the ATSC 3.0 standard. The SDE900 software-based encoder generates the I/Q modulation data.
Based on a high-performance IT server, it enables network operators to leverage the full capabilities of the standard and flexibly respond to signal processing requirements of the future. The Rohde & Schwarz exciter solution fully supports ATSC 3.0 features such as multiple physical layer pipes (PLP), multiple sub frames and SFN capabilities for optimal utilization of valuable spectrum. The SDE900 also supports ATSC 3.0 layered division multiplexing (LDM), helping network operators to maximize coverage for different reception scenarios (e.g. fixed and mobile reception).
By design, broadcast standard evolutions can easily be accommodated. Operators can capitalize on their valuable spectrum assets even in the future and benefit from a secure a long-term investment.

Coaxial transmitter power combiners for power levels up to 120 kW — RFS is pioneering high-power coaxial transmitter power combiners to up to 120 kW. These are designed for transmitter manufacturers who want to combine several racks of amplifiers into one RF output without having to resort to waveguide transmitter combiners. RFS’ coaxial transmitter combiners greatly reduce the volume of such high power systems, which is critical when space is at a premium. Product info: http://www.rfsworld.com/events/nab-show-2018
Tunable coaxial RF filters for up to 60 kW / 120 kW in UHF — With these cast 6-pole and 8-pole PeakPower+ filters, the heat is dissipated much more evenly and the insertion loss is greatly reduced for power levels up to 60kW, convection or liquid cooled. Coaxial Constant Impedance Filter systems can be offered to up to 120 kW. With the help of RFS’ BCAT Computer-Aided Tuning Software, it is possible to completely tune (or retune) these filters in under one hour locally or in the field, without having to replace any components. As such they can operate at both pre-and post-repack channels, providing greater flexibility and offering more options for interim and repack scenarios. They are also the basis of RFS’ coaxial channel combiners with the same benefits.
