NBA D-League Team Broadcasts With ChyronIP

An NBA development league basketball team in Texas is now broadcasting with high-impact graphics that viewers would typically see on professional sports’ bigger stages.

Chyron, a provider of graphics for newsrooms, studios and sports broadcasting facilities, announced today that the Texas Legends have built the ChryonIP real-time HD/SD 2D and 3D character and graphics generator into its new mobile production trailer.

“ChyronIP gives us more robust capabilities and added flexibility in the overall graphics presentation of Legends’ broadcasts, ultimately resulting in more graphics and an enhanced on-air presence,” said Bill Boyce, president of the Texas Legends, in a statement.

Those graphics could include everything from on-screen player bios to interactive statistics, to showing schedules and league standings.

The production trailer was custom-built by North Texas Trailers and includes a 200-square-foot foldout stage that can include a broadcaster desk.

The ChyronIP delivers key and fill signals via the TriCaster network interface, which gives producers two full HD or SD live full-motion channels of Chyron graphics without tying up any of the TriCaster’s video inputs. The Texas Legends opted to add a second channel to the ChyronIP system to support streaming graphics.

St. John’s University’s athletic department also uses ChyronIP graphics generator for its live streams, which air on ESPN3.com.
