NBC Names Names Susan Tully WVIT GM

NBC Owned Television Stations picks the news VP of its KXAS Dallas to succeed Ric Harris as head of its Connecticut O&O.

The NBC Owned Television Stations today appointed Susan Tully president and general manager of WVIT Hartford-New Haven, Conn. (DMA 30).

Tully, who started her new role today, succeeds Ric Harris, who recently became president-GM of NBCUniversal’s Philadelphia duopoly of WCAU and WWSI (Telemundo). Tully reports to Valari Staab, President, NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations.

Tully has worked for the NBC Owned Television Stations for the vast majority of her more than 30-year career in local television. Most recently, she was VP of news for KXAS Dallas-Fort Worth, a position she held for the last 14 years. In this role, Tully oversaw a newsroom of more than 100 journalists in a highly competitive market that encompasses 24,000 square miles and is home to more than seven million residents.

Before joining KXAS, Tully was assistant news director at WCAU Philadelphia for three years. Prior to that, she held a number of roles of increasing responsibility at KNSD San Diego for seven years, culminating with her being named managing director at the station.

Tully holds a bachelor’s degree in radio, television and film from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas.
