NBC O&O Specials Celebrate The Globes

The NBC Owned Television Stations will kick off the 2017 awards season with two hours of special programming dedicated to celebrating Hollywood’s Golden Globe Awards.

The programming includes a one-hour live red carpet pre-show on the night of the Golden Globes, a half-hour show dedicated to discussing red carpet fashion and tips, and a second half-hour special that will be devoted to special celebrity interviews.

All three shows will air on NBC stations across the country and in Puerto Rico.

The stations’ special shows will lead up to the presentation of the 74th Annual Golden Globe Awards, which will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon and air on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. ET / 5 PT on NBC.

“We are thrilled to deliver our viewers two full hours of special programming that will highlight one of the most spectacular nights in Hollywood, the Golden Globe Awards,” said Meredith McGinn, SVP of Cozi TV and LX.TV Productions, which are part of the NBC Owned Television Stations division.

Ashley Roberts, host of NBC’s winning lifestyle show 1st Look, kicks off the festivities with a special half-hour episode, 1st Look: Hollywood’s Golden Night that will air on Sat., Jan. 7 after Saturday Night Live. In this special episode, Roberts will roll out the red carpet in honor of the Golden Globes alongside actress and comedienne Lisa Lampanelli to talk about awards predictions and look at this year’s host, Jimmy Fallon.

To get the latest updates from A-list musicians and celebrities including Kathy Griffin, Ryan Phillippe, Sting and Vincent D’Onofrio, viewers can watch Cat Greenleaf’s half-hour show Talk Stoop Award Season Kickoff, which will air on NBC stations on Saturday, Jan. 7, and on Sunday, Jan. 8.

On Sunday, Jan. 8, the centerpiece of the stations’ programming will be 1st Look Live on the Red Carpet. This one-hour, red carpet pre-show will be hosted by New York Live’s Sara Gore and Jacque Reid. They will be joined by Today contributor Lilliana Vazquez. The show will feature interviews with television and film stars as they walk down the red carpet into the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif. 1st Look Live on the Red Carpet will air on Sunday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. ET and lead up to the Golden Globe’s pre-show on NBC at 7 o’clock.

Local NBC O&O’s will feature on their websites red carpet photos and up-to-date information about this year’s awards show, including the list of nominees and winners, as well as a “Guess Who Wore It” interactive game highlighting what the stars wore to the award show and in previous years.

The special Golden Globe’s section featured in all station websites will also include news stories about Golden Globe nominees, DeMille winner Meryl Streep’s most notable film roles, which stars to follow on social media leading up to the awards show, an analysis of nominations in all the major categories with a breakdown of who should win vs. who is projected to win each category, “Amazing Golden Globe Moments” and a Golden Globe Bingo game with downloadable Bingo cards that will be based on events that could happen during the show, among others.
