NBC Stations Name New Ombudsman

NBC News Standards and Practices VP David McCormick today announced the hiring of Kevin Keeshan as ombudsman for NBC News assigned to the NBC Owned Television Stations. Keeshan will report to McCormick and is charged with “ensuring that the high standards for news gathering and reporting set by NBC News are applied consistently across all 10 NBC-owned stations.”

Keeshan brings nearly 35 years of journalism experience — both behind and in front of the camera — to his new position. Most recently, he was VP-news director of KGO San Francisco, a position he held for more than a decade, and previously worked as news director at KFSN Fresno, Calif., for three years.

Before KFSN, Keeshan worked as managing editor and later executive producer for special projects at KGO, where he managed all consumer and investigative reports.

Earlier in his career, Keeshan held reporter and assignment editor jobs at KERO Bakersfield, Calif., and KXTV Sacramento, Calif., culminating in being named consumer reporter and anchor at KGET Bakersfield, a post he held for nearly seven years.

Keeshan has a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism from the University of Southern California.
