NBC Stations Ups Kleinbaum To Digital Exec. Editor

The NBC Owned Television Stations division of NBCUniversal today promoted Josh Kleinbaum to executive editor of the division’s Digital Media group, effective immediately.

In this role, Kleinbaum will lead the division’s national editorial team, partner with the 11 NBC Owned Stations on their digital content strategies across online, social and mobile platforms and help manage the group’s editorial partnerships.

Kleinbaum was promoted to his new position after serving as senior managing editor and managing editor for the group since 2011. In his previous roles, he provided support and strategy advice to the digital editors at the stations, including helping plan coverage of major news events and breaking news stories, planning and launching new franchises and using analytics to improve results.

Kleinbaum also oversaw the social media efforts across the division, assisting the stations in developing market specific strategies to attract a larger audience to their platforms.

Earlier, Kleinbaum was regional editor of the three West Coast NBC-owned stations — KNBC Los Angeles, KNTV San Francisco and KNSD San Diego — where he provided digital support and strategy.

Before joining NBC Owned Television Stations, Kleinbaum worked as an editor at Travelzoo.com and at the Los Angeles Newspaper Group, where he started as a crime reporter at the Los Angeles Daily News before becoming online editor and then managing editor for the group’s interactive platforms.

BRAND CONNECTIONS

Kleinbaum holds a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Michigan and was a Knight New Media Multimedia Journalism Fellow at the University of California at Berkeley.
